Artist Statement:
As Melody's work continues to grow, she gains further knowledge about herself, her family history, and realizes her future artistic endeavors. Through her immersion in black and art history, she attempts to use her abstracted narratives and visual cues as a way to dispel notions of race as a label.

Melody S. Boone is a mixed media artist with an interdisciplinary art practice, currently living and working in Suffolk, VA. She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Art in 2003 from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA and her Masters of Fine Art in 2009 from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.
